my favorite midi was from a djx2b that i circuit bent. it made random crap happen- to other devices it sent signal to… it fried. but i reflowed all the legs on the ic and it works again minus the mods now. maybe i will work on it again. i use thinner wire now so there wont be blobs of solder to melt. i will add a fan this time i think.

i am thinking of composing a song in the circle of fifths progression… i know dorian minor sounds really neat over it… just trying to add a little tension to it when the melody descends.

in the key of c… what are the notes ascending and descending of dorian minor?

Music theory time. are there any other scales than melodic minor that are different when ascending/ descending?

    • Dorian minor, but that’s only one note different.

    • dorian typically remains unchanged in either direction, since the only difference between it and natural minor is the sixth scale degree. in the key of c minor, Ab is the sixth scale degree, but in c dorian, A -natural- is the sixth scale degree, which makes a brighter sound. you can change that note from A to Ab as you please (which is…[Read more]

          • at the end of the day when to change it and when to not change it is pretty much up to you, regardless of whether it’s going up or down. dorian can go either way. you just have to figure out when you want to darken the melody by lowering that A to Ab, and if you want to do so while descending, then go for it! Just make sure that when you use it,…[Read more]

I think i may keep my glitchy gameboy as is… i do not think nanoloop gets messed up on it. I am only going to use lsdj on the dmg that I have not modded. I tried to sync lsdj in my gbc on slave to my modded dmg with nanoloop in it and the potentiometer changed the speed of the wobble i mare in lsdj. I couldnt get it to work any other way…

make sure you have an on off switch to your alternate crystal because lsdj will act all funny if the dmg is even a tiny bit fast or slow. i have a ltc 1799 in mine and sometimes when i load up my song on lsdj and the chains are all filled with instrumentless crap that i have to delete! now maybe it is my cart not being erased right, but in my…[Read more]
