You can now upload and share your files on NoiChan. To create a File Album follow these easy steps:

  1. Log in and click “My Account” in the top-right corner.
  2. Click “Create Album” in the low bar.
  3. Select “File Album” from the dropdown menu.
  4. Enter the appropriate information and click “Save Album.”

You will be redirected to a screen where you can upload your files to your new File Album.

Currently you can upload .zip, .7z, .rar, & .gz files. You can also upload these popular micromusic formats: .mod, .med, .mo3, .mtm, .nsf, .nsfe, .ftm, .dmc, .xm, .xi, .s3m, .it, .vgm, .vgz, .sid, .ay, .sap, .ym, .669, .umx, .kar, .mid, .kit, .lsdsng, & .sav. All users are currently allowed up to 256MB of storage space.

The functionality is all there but this is the first implementation, so we are still tentatively referring to this as a beta version.

More slick features are on the way.

We’ve upgraded alot of stuff on NoiChat, and are in the process of fixing even more things. No more IRC. Protip #3: Dropbox

December 23, 2011 in Protips, Software

I’ve been getting alot of links to people’s albums on mediafire lately, which raises the question: People still use mediafire?

Don’t get me wrong, it’s cool that mediafire gives you 200MB of free online storage, but wouldn’t you prefer 2GB of online storage? That’s 10 times the storage space, and it’s just as free as mediafire. Wizardy you say? Not exactly. Just go sign up for an account over at dropbox.com. You don’t even need the dropbox utility they offer you, but it makes things a little bit faster. If you’d prefer not to install that piece of software, just skip it, and you can still log into your account via their website, and upload files with those controls. The best part about dropbox is you can send people direct links to the download, whether they have dropbox or not, and they can simply download the file by clicking your link, without having to visit some lame page with popups and ads all over it. So let’s review: 2GB free storage, no lame popups, dropbox.com.

Hopefully some of you will find this useful.
