Well, I have quite a bit of experience with it and I could start someone off with an idea, and as long as you know how to input notes into a tracker you could probably add to it. Also if someone has a work in progress song I’d like to see if I could help flesh it out. Basically it’s all about gaining more interest for this tracker . I think more people should be making things with it, and if I can help that to happen somehow I think it’d be awesome. I’ll see if I can put an example of something up, and maybe others would like to build on it .

Yes First one next to the note is for the instrument number, next is the volume column, then the fx which you can have have up to 3 per channel by clicking it at the top to switch which set of parameters you are looking at.

The pattern editor is the easy part . The harder part is making instruments. However, once you open up a few songs and mess around it should come to you pretty easy .

I don’t know of an online list off hand, but I can tell you where it is once you open the tracker:

Go to: Help, Show Help, Interface,and the second one from the bottom is “Effects List”

Before you start anything I would go into the preferences and check out the buffer length. Click the little sound icon. If you hear a solid tone you’re fine…if it’s a bit garbled you’ll have to adjust the buffer length until it sounds good.

Another thing you can do in the preferences is take down the main tracker volume as well as adjust the FM/PSG volumes if you need to. There is a slider there that can help you adjust it. I like to slide it all the way to the PSG side, because normally psg is very quiet . Little tips like that I found out a bit later but it’s like a tiny bit of mastering or something before you render a song to a wav file/mp3 .

Quick little post to add what little I got so far. Two melody ideas that both have the same little breakdown. I played with some of the drums and rhythms as well, but nothing really overt.

Sounds good, just keep me in the loop. They’re pretty much some rough ideas that would require sound smoothing, but I’ll add in some more later on this week when I’m not as busy and get them to you.

For the most part I’d say when Groove and I work together it’s like I am better at tweaking leads, and groove is a bit better at backing stuff and sound design. We work well together . I think we are up to Tronix 4.6 . Check this out!

Feel free! We have a version with a make shift ending, but we thought to ourselves if you came up with more ideas we could include them in the second go around somehow. We’re always tweaking stuff anyhow, we’re like “Ok, I think we are done, and then the other guy adds something ha ha. So yeah, that would be cool . If nothing comes to mind we have a version that works too. So either way no pressure . My main goal here is to get more people interested in VGMM so that more people are making music with it. It’s such a good program but relatively few people use it. I’m glad you have decided to give it a shot man .

Ah, I had a version 6 . Then I looked at your ideas. One pattern had 128 and some interesting psg which I kept in there to kind of lead into our new ending, but the one pattern that had an odd length of about 73 was different. I couldn’t quite figure out a way to put that in there successfully so I kind of ditched it. I am not saying pattern length of different sizes and timing is a bad thing, it’s a great way to diversify . I’ve done it in a few of my solo tracks. Just in this instance I couldn’t figure out a way to make it work right, but one of your patterns did end up being a nice lead in so now we have a version 7. I’ll post it up here. If you’re alright with how it sounds I think we’ll call it a final and figure what we want to do with it from there. If I can get it to Groovemaster303 maybe he can see something with that 73 pattern that I couldn’t but yeah .

It just goes to show, just because someone is new does not mean we can’t learn from each other and make something rad .

Again, I hope the link works. I think I’ll turn this one into an mp3 if you’re cool with this being the final version. How would you like to be credited? Is “Mise” fine, or do you want another name going into the mp3 tags? As it stands now it’s a 3 way collaboration between me, you, and Groove. Hopefully we can get some more people interested in this topic. What I’d really like to see is someone else start of a track next and then see how I can add to it . However, this has been fun and it’s like anyone can take a look at this file and hopefully learn something .

It would be neat to get a lot of new people involved and have enough songs to put out a little “VGMM and friends Compilation E.P” or something .
